Thanks Vr Fitness Insider for Reviewing achieVRfit!

A big shout out to VrFitnessInsider.com for reviewing our app achieVRfit.  We love that you guys loved it and we love the work you do.

If you’re interested in reading what hey had to say, I’ve added a blurb below but you can read the whole article here: https://www.vrfitnessinsider.com/tom-lyons-achievrfit-gear-vr-cardio-running-app/

We found Tom on his YouTube channel called Exercise Is Boring, where he posts videos about his journey in creating the AchieVRfit app, VR game reviews, and updates on his own weight loss progress. He also writes blog posts on his Exercise Is Boring website, where he covers how he did that week, what he ate, what real life and VR exercise he accomplished, and about the game’s development progress.
What is achieVRfit?
AchieVRfit is a Gear VR app that can be found in the Experiences section of the Oculus Store. This amazing indie VR app will have players donning their Gear headset and running along a path as they run or jog in real time. The menu uses the controller to select the duration of the workout, the type of music you’d like to play while jogging or running, and gaze to collect objects in the game.

Week 6 Update – Oh No, what happened?

I’m getting pretty excited we’re almost ready to test some new mountains scenes in achieVRfit. That means a different view every time you go for a run!

Regarding the Bananas, it looks like a lot of you like the bananas, so we might be keeping them, just a little more testing with the diamonds. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Weekly Stats:
Weight:

I back tracked a little this week. Pizza three times this week might have had something to do with it. 🙂 It’s my Kryptonite, I always over eat when it comes to Pizza and honestly it is much easier for me to avoid it. But we were out with friends and bad life choices became the norm for me.

So last week I was down 2.2 lbs this week up 1.3lbs, I’ll try and make better choices this week.

However I was pretty active this week, both in VR and RR(Real Reality), odd I even need a term for that. I managed to get some golf in and Kayaking, obviously time with achieVRfit and did a couple new game reviews along side my regular workouts.

Total loss to date is 6 lbs in 6 weeks.

Fitbit stats for last week:

Steps: 92,324

Average Hours of Sleep: 6 Hours 13 Minutes

See you next week!

Audio Shield Review for the HTC Vive Fitness

Today we’re reviewing Audio Shield for the HTC Vive.

There are few beat/music style games out in the wild and Audio Shield was one of the first for VR.  Even though it’s been out since April 5th of 2016, our team had not reviewed it yet, so we thought it was time.

Heart Rate: 125BBM

Replayability: 5 Stars

Workout: Mild to Moderate.

Overall Rating:  We love this game.

Week #5 Upadte – We Added Bananas!!

Today’s a special day, you’re going to get to see me running along a mountain path, collecting bananas.  I know right!  BANANAS.

I am going to ask a favour though, we’ve been having a pretty big debate internally here at achieVRfit.  Should we have bananas or diamonds?  So please weigh in with your thoughts.

Talking about weighing in, let’s take a look at my scale for the week.

As you can see I made some progress this week.  2 lbs.  I really did try and make sure I put the time in with achieVRfit and eating well.  Here’s a plug for Panera, the Southwest Chicken Tortilla broth bowl, is super filling, tasty and low in calories.

Again though it is amazing how you crave those comfort processed foods.  Yet I can see a real difference when they are avoided.  Love to hear what people do to avoid those foods.

Total loss to date is 7bs in 5 weeks?  Seems like a good steady rate.

Fitbit stats for last week:

Steps: 82370

Average Hours of Sleep: 5 Hours 36 minutes (Yikes)

See you next week!

Virtual Sports on the HTC Vive – VR Tennis and Ping Pong Review

I tried out Virtual Sports today, you can see the video below.  It’s a great game, but you won’t work up a sweat in it.

The mechanics are great, the feel is great, and if you have ever wanted a ping pong table or tennis court, look no further.

In the review, you’ll see I start in career mode playing a game of ping pong, but you can play online or play in practice mode.  All modes are fun and I found them almost a little zen like.  Sort of like playing tennis on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Don’t forget to share/tweet our post, we’re always looking for health or fitness apps to review, so let us know if there’s something you want to see.

Week #4 of the Fitness Challenge

So here we are on month in!  It’s hard to believe.

I have to say, I’ve learned a lot, for instance, weighing yourself daily can be a little frustrating and motivating at the same time.  You can swing a full two pounds in a day, so weighing in at the same time of day is really important.  Salt seems to have a big impact, if I go to a movie and have popcorn, yet keep my calories under control, all that sodium seems to dump some temporary weight on me.   It drops away in a day but boy can it surprise you.

Here’s my scale this week:

You can see it’s down about another pound.  So it is slow going but at least steady.

The up side is working out is a little easier, and 30 minutes goes by pretty quick in achieVRfit.

Here are my Fitbit stats for the week.

Steps: 83,340

Sleep:  6 hours 28 minutes average

See you guys next week.
